This duo from Scotland are just about to enter their 20th year. They are TWILIGHT SAD 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and they make me anything but…

They started as a five piece singing with thick Scottish accents over heavy melodies. They are now down to a core of two- James Graham and Andy MacFarlane.

This outfit has been championed by Robert Smith of THE CURE 🇬🇧. They have toured with this band on a few tours and Smith has contributed guitar to a some songs on their most recent LP, their 6th.

I was fortunate to see these guys open for THE CURE a couple on June 13, 2023. They were excellent- subject to the caveat that playing outdoors in daylight for a heavy band like this is not ideal…

I did a live post from the gig that day…

Anyway, here is the 2026 release. The title references the sad demise of Graham’s mom due to dementia.

The band was supplemented with members of faves ARAB STRAP 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and MOGWAI 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. As well, it is on the label owned and operated by the latter.

I could have selected any track from this gem but went with track 3 – “Attempt A Crash Landing- Theme”. Enjoy. I predict it will propel further listens- it is that compelling.
