Quirky Discography Factoids (Vol. 1)

One of the joys of being a music collector is not just the wonderful music.

Regardless of format, I have many unusual selections in my collection.

We will start with a 7” record with an unusual sleeve.

One of the finest and trailblazing punk bands of the 80’s were the punk geniuses HÜSKER DÜ 🇺🇸 from Minneapolis.

After the demise of that band in 1987/ 1988, lead musicians BOB MOULD and GRANT HART had separate music careers and only spoke to each other near the end of HART’S life in 2017 at the age of 56.

He initially released music as a solo artist and then formed a group named NOVA MOB.

In 1992 he released a fantastic track entitled “Shoot Your Way To Freedom.” It was released as a NOVA MOB song.

It was the cover of the 7” record that warrants the first mention in this new series.

NOVA MOB- “Shoot Your Way To Freedom” b/w “Ballad No. 19” (Tontine Records- 1992)

The records were hand labelled and a small tear was made to each side of the jacket to make it appear the record jacket had been used for target practice.

Clever but it wouldn’t be worth a post on that alone. This is a fine track worthy of today’s listing as song 1724 on this trek.
