A historical tale on this noteworthy day,
50 years ago TODAY, I was visiting my Aunt Margaret (my mom’s sister) my Uncle Harry in Sarnia/ Pt. Edward. I visited there often.

They resided on the 7th floor of a high rise apartment in Point Edward, Ontario.

Their unit had a stunning view west to the Bluewater Bridge, Port Huron, Michigan, and the transition of the St. Clair River into Lake Huron.

I was a 20 year old philosophy student about to attend 3rd year at Western University.
July 4, 1976 was a beautiful day to for those celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
I was sat on the balcony with Harry in the early afternoon and proclaimed to him that I thought on that day the U.S. was more vulnerable to an attack by Russia than on any other day in my lifetime…
My reasoning (or lack thereof), I told him, was based on the fact that many Americans would be partying etc. and not alert to the dangers, given the celebrations. Their guards would be down.
The Cold War war was very much alive at this point. (Although China was only a couple of years into Nixon’s opening was not a military power.)
It was Russia at that point that was the boogeyman.
Harry took another sip of his Black Russian and made some comment that I needed a drink. I had been sipping a Coca-Cola and continued to do so. My comment was not fueled by anything but my ever- active mind.
Fortunately, I was wrong about that day, but I must note much has changed these past 50 years, but much has not…
Anyway, I thought the story warranted a 1 day exemption of a policy here at gwrex365.
While I don’t have much other music from this country in my collection, I have not featured any outfits from Russia over these past 4.5 years (1692 songs) since this rickety project has been underway.

In a nod to my 7/4/76 tale, I am going to feature a song by a band from Russia/ St. Petersburg. Here is Pinkshinyultrablast 🇷🇺 with the track “Dance AM”
