REMIX RELEASE OF THE YEAR

ROUGH TRADE RECORDS is a juggernaut. Now boasting 3 stores in London as well as locations in Bristol, Nottingham, New York and Berlin, (and rumoured to be opening in Liverpool) the selection and array of vinyl and music books available at Rough Trade is top drawer.

Such is the influence of this store that their annual publication entitled “RETROSPECTIVE” which lists their TOP 20 LPs of the year is highly influential in the music industry.

As you can see, the selection this year is “Strange Disciple” by the New York trio NATION OF LANGUAGE.

But that’s not all. When I entered their store in Bristol for the 1st time on Nov. 28 this record was prominently displayed.

Yowsa! Of course I had to have it. While this LP does not rank #1 for me this year it is still high on my list. I featured the song “Stumbling Still” back on September 16.

This bonus release does not contain a version of that song so I have selected the opening track of the LP proper remixed by none other than the talented DANIEL AVERY. It was a sublime 2023 moment when I heard this gem.
