]Ed. Note- this is a live action post that Rex is sending out while stradling the international boundary between Canada and the United States. He last recalls doing a live post a couple of years ago when TWILIGHT SAD 🏴 opened for THE CURE 🇬🇧.]
A new bridge has opened between my home city of Windsor, Ontario 🇨🇦 and Detroit, Michigan 🇺🇸. It is a spectacular engineering feat – a cable- stayed bridge that has no pillars in the water.
It is the longest cable- stayed bridge in North America. The bridge extends 1.6 miles and it is 2,798 feet between the two piers which each stand to a height of 722 feet.

The bridge opened to vehicles on July 27, 2026, and to pedestrian and bike traffic yesterday.
I decided to walk over and back today on Day 2 to celebrate my new- found work status.
Of course, such an endeavour involves indie music.
I selected 4 LPs that hit the theme. There may be more in my collection that I have missed but these came to me without much hard thinking.
I am listening to these LPs as I traverse the 5 degree climb…
First up is from THOMAS LEER and ROBERT RENTAL. It is entitled – “The Bridge”.

Next up are two of my favourite compilation LPs. They are entitled “Under The Bridge” and are comprised of songs from bands, or successor bands on the indie famous SARAH RECORDS label. Skepwax Records, the label founded by indie stalwarts Matthew and Amelia Fletcher from former SARAH label band HEAVENLY (as well as SWANSEA SOUND and CANTENARY WIRES) put out these two gems,

To boot, both LPs include booklets with pictures and data on bridges from around the world.

Finally, I am listening to the classic post-punk debut from the CHAMELEONS. Ironically, while I have some signed vinyl by this band, I only have a CD copy of this LP in my collection.

I am going to go with the appropriately titled opening track “Don’t Fall”.
Group member DANNY ASHBERRY is now a member of CHAMELEONS.
