There is nothing better than a great saxaphone sound enhancing a solid song.
We were pleased this past Sunday to be able to go see Will, the spouse of colleague and group member Kaitlyn, play sax with local jazz ensemble Coffee House Combo.
Will played some amazing sax and it made me think of a record in my collection that I have not yet featured.
The beauty of this live LP is that I was at this gig with group member, Rob! Man, we had a blast that night!
MORPHINE 🇺🇸 was a comet on the indie scene that burned bright, but not for long enough. The band ended tragically when vocalist MARK SANDMAN died onstage of a heart attack during a gig in Italy in 1999. Sad.
In addition to the vocals of Sandman, the core of this outfit was DANA COLLEY- sax player.
Amazingly, he could play two saxophones at the same time. Huh? Yup.
Unfortunately I could not locate any video from that gig. However here is a video of the last song on the LP – “Buena”
