Back on Feb 15, I posted “Around The Indie World In 80 (or so) Songs.” I curated a playlist of over 80 tracks from bands in my collection from countries that smart travellers might visot this year. The reaction to this 6.5 hour playlist has been fantastic.

New group member Herb is travelling to Mexico City 🇲🇽 tomorrow. On the “80 songs” playlist is my fave Mexican outfit LORELLE MEETS THE OBSOLETE.
However, today I want to give you a track from a British indie outfit I adore.
TREASURES OF MEXICO 🇬🇧 are comprised of former members of THE DENTISTS 🇬🇧 (MARK MATHEWS, ROB COLLINS) and the incomparable BETH ARZY 🇺🇸/ 🇬🇧.
BETH is a member of our Group. She has been in such legendary indie outfits as ABERDEEN, TREMBLING BLUE STARS*, JETSTREAM PONY + LIGHTNING IN A TWILIGHT HOUR* to name a few.
Her partner is the legendary and reclusive and renowned indie songwriter BOBBY WRATTEN (FIELD MICE, NORTHERN PICTURE LIBRARY, and the bands marked * above.)
My favourite song of 2023 was “Halo” by TREASURES. When Kimberly and I were visiting daughter Hannah while she studied in the UK in November that year, I got to see TREASURES perform with 5 other bands in Brighton. It was a thrilling evening.
TREASURES OF MEXICO played that song. You can hear BETH give me a shout out at the beginning. The video was posted to YouTube by Group member Ray Collins. He is the proprietor of the wonderful COUNTRY MILE RECORDS label based in Cardiff 🏴.
