A couple of busy weeks ago I told you about the crazy coincidence that led to me seeing Chicago based post- punk g greats FACS 🇺🇸 at Meteor.
I went on so long about my time with SYX and then STEVE ALBINI that the post became a model of loquaciousness. I cut the post off before talking about the gig.
So today, I give you the rest of the story.
I have been a fan of FACS since I first heard them a few years ago. They play to the post punk/ JOY DIVISION 🇬🇧 musical gene that I have, so it was not surprising that I became an instant admirer. Note that the band name is an homage to the FACTORY RECORDS catalog system.
I managed to acquire two of their LPs. This included last year’s “Wish Defense” which made my “Brand New Loves” post on January 1st setting out my fave new LPs and re-releases of 2025.
The gig was aces. Here are some action photos of this trio.

And;

And not least:

After the gig I was able to meet a chat with all three band members and have my records signed as well as a number of their CDs that I acquired.
They told me how they spent two days laying down all of the tracks for “Wish Defense” with ALBINI. He left that evening saying he would see them the next day to begin the mixing. That never happened due to his sudden passing that evening.
Friends of Steve helped them finish this fine LP, now signed by the band!

At the end of the night, a wonderful picture with the band.

For today’s track I have to go with the title track off this momentous LP.
Here is “Wish Defense”

And a live version as my video of them performing has poor sound.
