Being in Austin, TX these past few days has given me time to listen to a ton of music. I also have much more material to pick up with my “Austin Indie Series” posts which left off at #4.
But today, I digress from the LP Of The Year decision and the Austin series to present my first gem of the year track.
Sitting outside some stores on Congress the other day while Kimberly browsed, the algorithms took my past and made it part of my future (but the present is not out of hand, Ian.)
In 1990, an outfit band burst out of Coventry 🇬🇧 to great acclaim and promise.
They were called ADORABLE. They were going to be Indie huge. They were on the Creation Records label like most of the ace bands were at that time.
They made awesome indie/ shoegaze hinting at some greatness. Their debut, “Against Perfection” was one of my Top 10 from 1993.
The songs “Sunshine Smile” and “Sistine Chapel Ceiling” from that LP are still all time faves.
Their vocalist was Pete Fijalkowski.
Just two LPs in and it was over.
After ADORABLE there was POLAK. (Yes, I am one of the few that owns their stuff.)
Next came PETE FIJ/ TERRY BICKERS. He was the mercurial guitarist from another Creation hopeful. THE HOUSE OF LOVE 🇬🇧 (Yes, I am one of the few that owns their stuff.)
And then, nothing. Another vocalist on the Lost Indie Highway to Oblivion – until now.
I was unaware of sonr new solo tracks in 2025. His new track is entitled “Love’s Coming Back” and it is a stomper! Love’s coming back indeed!
Here it is with the amazing refrain “Ditch the frown because up’s the new down…”
