ERADICATE HATE The Annual Rubbish Day

Here we go.

December 8. Our annual Rubbish Day here at gwilliamrexundergroundhere 365.com

[Ed. Note- This is the fourth December 8 for gwilliamrexunderground365.com which began in January, 2022.

rex always reserves this day as “rubbish day” or “hateful 8” posting songs that match that theme.

This year is going to be slightly different. With so many rubbish people and hate out there- why bother. rex thought he would make an exception and share a story of joy today. Pure joy.]

I took my son DJ Drew to Toronto last week. On Friday, we took daughter Courtney Bean and her partner Emma to the Raptors NBA game “versing” (as Andrew says) the lowly Charlotte Hornets (6-16).

The high flying Dinos (15-6) got totally thrashed by the pesky Insects by a score of 111-86. Perhaps the play of the Raptors is the rubbish part of the story.

What was heart-warming was the joy DJ Drew experienced and treatment the staff at the Scotiabank Arena showed to him.

Recognizing Andrew has Down Syndrome, we were immediately ushered to a private entrance once we scanned our tickets.

But it was what happened during the game that is most noteworthy.

To start you have to appreciate that (as those that know him do): 1. Andrew loves attending sports events. 2. He loves wearing anything he can call a “mask.” 3. There is not one scintilla of embarrassment or shame in his DNA. Nothing. Zilch.

Case in point is the souvenir he “had” to purchase before the game. He “needed it badly” he told me.

29$ plus tax later, here he is:

He wore his RAPTORS Dino head mask for nearly the entire game. Near the end of the 3rd quarter, the usher in our section (204) came over and declared that Andrew was clearly the most dedicated fan in the section and presented him with a very cool Raptors pin.

It was an impressive gesture.

Here we are after the game with Edison, thanking him for being so kind to Andrew.

And finally, to show that DJ Drew does not know the concept of shame, here is a video clip of him back in Wïndsor Saturday night on the horn, blasting for his beloved Windsor Spitfires team while again wearing his Raptor mask. I rest my case.

DJDrew-Dec. 6, 2025 (London 3 Wïndsor 2 OT)

For today’s song, I bring you south- Londoners 🇬🇧 SHAME.

I love this gritty band. They have released 4 LPs. I love their 2025 LP “Cuthroat” but I have gone back to their 2018 debut for today’s selection.

shame- “songs of praise” (Deep Oceans- 2018)

Here is “Concrete” from their debut “Songs Of Praise.” It was my first fave track on the LP. I love the raw, punk energy of this tune. It matches the joy DJ Drew experiences every day.

Enjoy
