As you know, I have been “all in” with indie music since Jimmy Carter was President of the U.S. I have over 2,000 artists in my collection for which I have at least four recorded songs or more.
Having said, I wasn’t totally surprised whilst sitting in their home studio in SHROPSHIRE 🇬🇧 with MIKE and LISA listening to newly recorded tracks by B.F.G. when they introduced me to the music of Swede ANNA VON HAUSSWOLFF 🇸🇪.
I was immediately taken by her Gothic/ Indie/ Darkwave sound and have been listening since then- a lot.
Incredibly, ANNA uses a pipe organ to create her signature sound! [Ed. Note- Huh? Yup, the cover picture is the pipe organ she used in making the LP referenced below from Örgryte New Church in Gothenburg, Sweden.]
What I am more surprised about is how successful and well known she is in indie circles without having entered my inquisitive sphere.
This was brought home even more this week as I obsessively listened to her 6th studio album released on October 31st.
The LP is entitled “Iconoclasts”
There are ace collaborations on this LP with both ETHEL CAIN and IGGY POP. Along the way she was worked with artists in my realm such as LYKKE LI, SUNN O>>>, SWANS and TINDERSTICKS. How this artist became this well known to such a stable of indie artists without my noticing is a mystery. Thanks MIKE and LISA- yet again.
Anyway, enough meandering through the minutiae. I am utterly obsessed with the entire 72 minutes of this LP but, in particular, lead single “Stardust“ (6:42). I hope you have been introduced to a new artist that will enrich you too. Feel free to let me know your thoughts.
