When I curated OPUS70 for my birthday last week I selected the tracks from memory. I wrote down names as I went along for the week or so I spent working on the post. However, I specifically did not go to my computer to check or search for any names.
I know it was probably inevitable, but I have been randomly shaking my head repeatedly as I think of artists/songs that should also have been on my epic playlist… duh.
From time to time I will add to the list and begin creating OPUS70.1. These selections are not in any way a slight of any tracks on the original OPUS.
Here goes the first, in no particular order.
HAPPY MONDAYS 🇬🇧 were one of the most prominent of the early 1990’s dance Manchester scene from known as “Madchester”.
They were also on FACTORY RECORDS.
Lead Singer Shaun Ryder is one of the most enigmatic characters in indie rock. A sign I saw in the private room of a Manchester club this July 11 says everything you need to know about this shambolic band.
My favourite track was from their 1988 LP “Bummed” (cover above.) LP was FAC220 while the track “Wrote For Luck” was released as a single – FAC212.
It is one of my favourite dancefloor fillers. Today I present you the official video for the song along with one of the remixes- “W.F.L.- Vince Clarke Remix” to get you going midweek!
