One of the core members of my personal indie Hall of Fame is BOB MOULD.
While attending college in Minnesota in the late 70’s, he met GRANT HART (RIP). Along with GREG NORTON they became the seminal punk outfit HUSKER DÜ 🇺🇸.
While I found their original music too death metal punk for my taste, their song-writing skills grew dramatically and by their 1987 2LP release “Warehouse: Songs And Stories” I was obsessed.
I saw them live that year at St. Andrew’s Hall. Little did I know their demise was imminent.
Mould and Hart went their separate ways. Excellent LPs- solo for Bob and as NOVA MOB for Hart followed.
After 2 LPs Moukd formed a new band called SUGAR 🇺🇸 with DAVID BARBE (bass) and MALCOLM TRAVIS (drums).
Their LP, entitled “Copper Blue” became the 1992 NME LP of the year! A Chicago restaurateur was so improved he named his restaurant after the LP!

Here is my 25th anniversary RSD copy on the turntable.

After mind numbing 5 track ep (“Beaster”) and one other underrated LP titled File Under Easy Listening” they were gone!
Mould has gone to perform as a solo artist and released a boat load of great records over the 30 years since. I love everything has done (as does DJ Drew) and we have seen him perform live.
My collection of Bob Mould releases is mind numbing-

But now, (cheesy drum roll please) SUGAR have reformed!
Here is the new song that just dropped last week! More SUGAR please!!
