Thinking often of Manchester these days and I am continually reminded of the plethora of Mancunian artists that occupy an oversized space in my vinyl collection and the penthouse in my music mind.
One such name is legendary guitarist JOHNNY MARR 🇬🇧. Hailing from the city of in MANCHESTER in 1963, MARR’S roots are Irish 🇮🇪.
MARR co- formed THE SMITHS with (STEVEN) MORRISSEY in 1982. For 5 brilliant years this outfit (which included the late ANDY ROURKE (bass) and MIKE JOYCE (drums) defined indie music.

Following the breakup of the band in 1987, after releasing amazing LPs in 4 consecutive years, MARR has been involved in numerous bands and projects. Some of those ventures were with artists I admire. (Take a bow ELECTRONIC 🇬🇧 MODEST MOUSE 🇺🇸 and THE 🇬🇧. Others were with other punters favourites PRETENDERS 🇺🇸, CRIBS 🇬🇧.
It is a track from his 2013 solo LP entitled “The Messenger” that has been front and centre this past week.

Here is a live version of “The Right Thing Right” from “Later With Jules Holland.” Watch the scintillating guitar work as you contemplate doing the right thing right.
