Hard to believe that a trip through this beautiful Midlands landscape…

On a trip to a small town known for this…

Could lead to some wonderful musical finds…

On a day trip to Sheffield while we were in the UK this past July, our host, group member KRISTEN, met us at the train station and headed southwest to show us the area to the southwest in the Peak District National Park. It was desolate and stunning.
She then advised there was a small, but sort of famous, town nearby called Bakewell.

A quaint Derbyshire village awaited. Kimberly and Kristin wanted to look around and deposited me here-

While I love going into record stores, I actually went in somewhat reluctantly. The LP covers in the shoppe window were uninteresting to me. I figured the store would contain nothing but musty old records not in my orbit. However, I clearly had, albeit momentarily, forgotten that I was in the UK…!
The store was chock full of vinyl I wanted!
I found a copy of the “Contradictions” compilation LP that contains 2 JOY DIVISION tracks! [Ed. Note- more on that record in another post.]
I also happened on a 12” picture disk by Sheffield legends THE COMSAT ANGELS.
[Ed. Note- rex refuses to call them by their lame 2nd name – CS Angels. They had to switch to that land moniker to following a legal complaint by a corporate entity called The Communication Satellite Corporation Of America. See or feel free to request his post #186 from July 4, 2022.]
Here it is:

I could have scoured the racks for hours, but I just made 3 purchases and the canvas bag and then went out to share a Bakewell cake! Little did I know that this day in music was going to get even better as JARVIS COCKER awaited at our next destination!!
Anyway, here is the music-
