I was privileged to have been asked to conduct a wonderful wedding ceremony yesterday for Ryan and Steve.

Ryan is a bright young solicitor and dear friend. We go way back as I have been friends of Ryan’s father, Marty, and grandfather Mike since before Ryan was born.

Kimberly and I have also gotten to know and appreciate Steven. He is an energetic young man who is insightful and kind.

In honour of this momentous occasion, I have drafted a 23 song playlist. I entitled it as follows:

CUPID DOESN’T ALWAYS SHOOT THE ARROW STRAIGHT YOU KNOW

The playlist is a melange of songs from my collection that I love. Some of them are by gay artists, some are celebratory, some are reflective.

I chose 23 songs because of my obsession with that number. It is the highest prime number that consists of consecutive prime number (2 and 3) as well as the fact that those numbers add up to another prime number (5). I think it represents the indivisible nature of the relationship these two individuals share. [Ed. Note- The fact that while away last week doing a trial, rex’s room number was 223 only clinched it.]

I hope the playlist will stand tribute to these two fine friends and that they listen to it from time to time as a reminder of the wonderful day they became a forever couple.
