Members of the Group know that I went to see (and introduce) PETER HOOK & THE LIGHT as they performed the LP “Get Ready” and some other Joy Division and New Order gems on May 23.

While in Buffalo that afternoon, we visited a well-known indie record store- REVOLVER RECORDS. That made me think to revisit the series “What’s In The Bag?”

I was in quest of the new LP by a legendary artist in my indie universe- STEREOLAB 🇬🇧 It was released that very day!

Arising from the shadows of existential popsters McCarthy (“Should The Bible Be Banned”), this prolific outfit released 9 LPs from 1990 and then went on hiatus in 2009.

Key songwriter TIM GANE performed mostly as CAVERN OF ANTI MATTER. His former partner, vocalist LAETITIA SADIER was more prolific. She released music as MONADE and then as a solo artist.

STEREOLAB reformed in 2019 for live work- until now. This is their first LP in 15 years!

Here is “Aerial Troubles”. It is classic STEREOLAB. Indie pop with lyrics (sung in English/ French) that sound saccarhine, but are often fiercely biting. Listen carefully.
