No, the combination of numbers above is not a geo locator for a military target, or a combination lock to a safe.

The numbers above form the title of a track by one of my favourite British electronic outfits.

I thought FACTORY FLOOR 🇬🇧 had disbanded.

I can’t believe it, however. I just learned that they have reformed!

Back around 2010 the crack staff at ROUGH TRADE EAST introduced me to a London outfit that immediately captured my attention and devotion.

The aforementioned “16-16-9-20-1-14-9-7”was the first track that grabbed me. Here is a YOUTUBE audio link.

From their industrial name – FACTORY FLOOR – to the pulsating and relentless electronic dance music they created, they had my full attention.

GABE GURNSEY and NIK COLK VOID were the prime movers of the band.

They released numerous singles (including some produced by NEW ORDER drummer STEVEN MORRIS), 2 solid studio LPs and a soundtrack.

And then, like so many indie artists, they vanished.

GUERNSEY released two decent solo LPs (“Physical” in 2018 and “Diablo” in 2022). He also produced a significant number of other artists.

VOID had a child with then partner TIM BURGESS of baggy geniuses THE CHARLATANS. She released an LP entitled “Bucked Up Space” in 2022. She also collaborated with other artists.

Now they have reformed- I hope permanently.
