100 years ago today the world became a much better place with the birth of this guy in Peterborough, Ontario.

My sister Margaret and I will be celebrating this wonderful man and his life today.

The son of a career musician father (church organ and piano) and vocalist mother, Dad was a huge Jazz afficiando.

Sr. had impeccable musical taste and often listened to my stuff. He would listen from CDs I gave him whilst he was driving around town doing errands

Of the artists making this year’s list, MERCURY REV (from Buffalo NY 🇺🇸 ) would have been a fave of his given their historical ties to, and influences from, jazz music- particularly founding member GRASSHOPPER (Sean Thomas Macowiak).

This band returned this year from a long hiatus with a stunning long-player entitled “Born Horses”.

I have selected the opening track as Sr. would have loved it immensely.
