The MERCURY PRIZE has been an award given annually to the “best” album of the year from either the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 or from Ireland 🇮🇪 since 1992. (Ed. Note- About 1 out of 3 rex had acquired the winning selection.]

However, EVERY year I celebrate my own “Mercury Prize” on this day as it is the birthday of my wonderful and incredible wife Kimberly…

This year we came to AUSTIN, TEXAS 🐂 to visit with daughter MEGHAN who resides here.

(Andy’s Frozen Custard)
We are having a wonderful and relaxing time with MEGS and her boyfriend KALED.
Not surprisingly, there have been visits to some great record stores and sensational eateries (with a decidedly Asian bend, including an Asian/ Texas BBQ called LORO).
For today’s song I have selected my fave track from this year’s MERCURY PRIZE winning LP in honour/ honor) of KIM’S special day.
ENGLISH TEACHER hail from the LEEDS 🏴 area and formed in 2020.

Their debut album, (suitably for today’s specific post) is titled “This Could Be Texas” and is an indie gem.

[Ed. Note- As a point of reference RIYL- DRY CLEANING or WET LEG.]

[Ed. Note. For those of you as statistically obsessed as rex, he owns 109 of the 330 LPs that have been nominated to date for the MERCURY PRIZE. He indicates that there is not one of the 221 other LPs that have been nominated that he wishes he owns.]
