Greetings from a short trip to the Stampede City a few days before the infamous annual event that appears to be a go despite the troublesome water supply equipment breakdown that occurred almost two weeks ago.

My brief stay here presented an opportunity to select a song from my favourite Calgary band.

They have been around since about 2012/13 or so, I recollect. They were originally known by the regrettable name THE VIET CONG. They released 1 excellent self-titled LP in 2015.

In 2016 they had the good sense to change their name to THE PREOCCUPATIONS.

Since then this 4 piece has released 3 more choice records – “S/T” (2016), “New Material” (2018) and “Arrangements” (2022) on the

I am partial to their post-punk sound and think they have been somewhat underrated.

To that thought here is the stomping opening track from their 2022 LP entitled “Arrangements on the FLEMISH EYE label.
