TWO APOLOGIES/ TWO SONGS

Mea Culpa. Mea Culpa.

Two apologies today.

Firstly, since I returned from the UK I have been so busy with work that the songs have been on pause.

That changes, starting today.

While the songs haven’t been coming I have not been static in my listening. I have many, many great songs curated and ready to go!

Starting tomorrow I will be up and down the road for an hour each way, each day. A morning and an evening song seems appropriate as a bit of catch-up.

The second apology is to one of my favourite artists.

NICK CAVE 🇦🇺 🇬🇧 has been one of my favourite artists for over 3 decades. I have all of the NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS LPs. I love his second band GRINDERMAN. This is an incredible live act that I encourage you to see at least once. This is one of the few acts I have watched grow to perform in arena venues and maintain their musical integrity.

Having said that, I was not enthralled with the last two BAD SEEDS studio LPs – “Skeleton Tree” in 2016 and “Ghosteen” in 2019.

They aren’t horrible LPs- they just never moved the needle much for me. I find them too quiet and self indulgent. I will say no more as I don’t want to get into the utter sadness of the fact that CAVE has tragically lost two sons…

For what NICK CAVE has contributed over these years he is entitled to release whatever music he wants…

So against that backdrop I was not an elated as usual when I learned that a new LP is being released on August 30.

I never even got around to listening to the first single – the title track “Wild God”. There were many, many shinier releases that were catching my eye. (Ed. Note- many of those tracks you will be introduced to in the next few days/ weeks.)

When the 2nd single “Frogs” was freed on June 5, I decided to give it a listen.

My oh my. My oh bloody my.

This song has been on steady rotation the last two days- interrupted only by my listening to “Wild God”

What brilliance.

I apologize Nick from the bottom of my heart. I should never have doubted you.

I will say nothing more and let these two songs invade your psyche.
