SARAH STORIES (SKETCH #4)

[Ed. Note- As many of you know one of rex favourite labels is SARAH RECORDS.

This fiercely independent label was founded in Bristol UK 🇬🇧 by CLARE WADD and MATT HAYNES. Between 1987 and 1995 SARAH released 7” singles (almost 90) as well as 4 fanzines, and 29 LPs (of which 7 were 10” records.

rex counts 35 artists that recorded on SARAH. Today marks the 4th of those featured outfits.]

One of the beautiful things about my collection of indie music is that it makes each day a cornucopia of sounds/ lyrics/ images and experiences. These sense often trigger memories is songs or cause me to sing a lyric.

On a recent trip to Hamilton, I saw this watering hole near my hotel:

The George Hamilton, Hamilton, Ontario

The image immediately brought to mind not just the actor, but a legendary Sarah label song by THE GOLDEN DAWN entitled “George Hamilton’s Dead” (SARAH 017).

THE GOLDEN DAWN George Hamilton’s Dead b/w The Sweetest Touch + Let’s Build A Dysonspherr

This 7” record is one of the the treasures in my collection.

EDITOR’S NOTE- George Hamilton is actually still alive

Enjoy.
