SCORE MORE 24 (2/24)

Or perhaps this post should be titled – “Meet me at the corner of BROWNSTEIN and TUCKER.”

For the second time in a row I am featuring an upcoming 2024 LP by a band that, to my delight, unexpectedly returned from the dead and has gone on to release significant post- reformation music.

The trio SLEATER- KINNEY were named after a road near their rehearsal space in Olympia, Washington 🇺🇸 back in 1994.

The core founders of this indie powerhouse were Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker. They eventually settled on 4th drummer, the amazing Janet Weiss.

After releasing 7 studio LPs of ferocious and breathtaking riot- grrrl punk music SLEATER- KINNEY suddenly disbanded in 2006. [Ed. Note- cue the elephant tears.]

For eight long years there were only side projects. They were all good, but not SK.

As well, Brownstein achieved notoriety outside of music as an actor. Most significantly she and comedian Fred Armisten created the award winning TV series “Portlandia.”

After recording the LPs “No Cities To Love” (2015) and “The Center Won’t Hold” (2019) Weiss left the band.

The band is about to release their 2nd post- Weiss LP and 10th studio LP on 1/19/2024.

Three songs have been released. I have heard them all and obsessed over the videos and I am very excited. Each of the videos features a noteworthy person. I will feature them all in due course.

Here is the most recent of these gems. ‘Untidy Creatures’ was just released two days ago. The video is disturbing, as is most of what Sleater- Kinney does musically, lyrically and visually. Stay with it though.

However, before you get too despondent/ panicky, scroll way down in this post after you have watched the video and breathe a SLEATER- KINNEY size Rif sigh of relief.
