Not to get too caught up in the excitement that surrounded the gig in Brighton on the 26th, but the day was profound for me.
It reaffirmed the joy that indie music brings me (not that any of you think I really needed that) and the comradery that exists among those of us who support these amazing artists.
Think about this. I have been waxing eloquently for a week now about a number of artists who are not only brilliant and committed, but have created awesome discographies while maintaining day jobs. Impressive.
For this post I will mostly follow up with more about the Sunday headliners- THE JASMINE MINKS.

I was thrilled to meet all 6 gregarious members of the band and they each signed their new LP “You Make Your Own History,”

(Last Night From Glasgow/ Spinout Nuggets) (2023)
I also mentioned that RAY COLLINS from COUNTRY MILE RECORDS was among the 100 or so at the gig. WALLY TBM had told him I was coming and he introduced himself. What a treat to meet another like- minded indie maven!

Ray got a couple of videos up before I had a chance so I will rely on him for 2 tracks today. They are:
‘Think!’ which was the first song the band ever recorded and the opener of the set.
That is followed by my favourite JASMINE MINKS track- ‘Cut Me Deep’
Unfortunately, I had to leave the gig a few minutes early to catch my train. As I shook hands with Ray he folded a small plastic bag containing some pins into my hand.
I assumed they were pins from his label. Wrong. They were pins from THE JASMINE MINKS!
What a kind gesture…
What a fine gentleman…
What a day…
What a way to make my own history …
