In the mid 1980’s into the 90’s a burgeoning music label took the indie world by storm. CREATION RECORDS, led by impressario Alan McGee landed some of the best and brightest of the bright for many years. Think JESUS & MARY CHAIN, PRIMAL SCREAM, RIDE, MY BLOODY VALENTINE…

However, notwithstanding the ability of McGee to recognize indie talent like a fiend, there were, like with any label, there were casualties along the way.

One such promising outfit that never got a break was THE JASMINE MINKS. Hailing from Aberdeen Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 they were among the first bands to release music on the label. Their discography includes CREATION singles 004, 008, 018 and 025 between 1984 and 1986.

Promising as many thought they were, things never got rolling sufficiently on Creation.

Amazingly the band has persevered! It is their first LP in over 22 years!!

It is tellingly entitled “We Make Our Own History” and was just released.

I cannot believe I am going to see them this Sunday! it is not something I would ever have predicted could or would happen. Anyway a song not on the LP as a teaser is up today.
