BEEZER BEATS (Episode 1)

As Group members know, our daughter HANNAH is doing her 3rd year university studies in England.

Her sisters call her “BEEZER.”It is a morphing of her original nickname HANNAH B.”

BEEZER arrived in the UK 🇬🇧 mid- September and has been travelling often: Portsmouth, Bournemouth, London x3, Manchester and Brighton so far- Yowsa!

Saturday she and a friend visited OXFORD. They walked over 25,000 steps and loved the town.

I decided to start a series by featuring bands in my collection from places BEEZER visits.

By the list of places she has already visited this should be Episode 8, but we will call this #1 for so simplicity.

I had a number of artists to chose from Oxford. The most obvious is RIDE but I have featured them many times.

SUPERGRASS are from OXFORD. I have a number of their releases but have always found them a bit too “Ladish”.

Earlier this year their singer and s guitar player GAZ COOMBES released a solo record. A glanced at it indifferently. However, Group member WILLIAM from ROUGH TRADE SOHO highly recommended the release so I plunked.

Here is the song ‘Long Live The Strange’ as played on “Late Night with Jools Holland.” It is excellent and unusually sound a bit like an ARCADE FIRE song.
