We wrap up this trio of posts collectively called “Manchester, Toronto, Austin” with the tale of the coincidental record buying for me by my 3 incredible daughters that occurred last Saturday.

Many in the Group know, or know of, my oldest daughter Meghan. I refer to her as Meghan “Longhorn” since she attended grad school at University of Texas (“Hook’ em Horns”) and “Longhorn”is the school’s sports monicker.

[Ed. Note. It hasn’t happened yet but someday rex is going to inadvertently introduce Meghan by referring to her by that nickname.]

Anyway, Megs works for Preservation Austin. It is the architectural society for the city.

As part of their work, Preservation Austin ran a fundraising campaign this year to recognize a select group of long- term Austin businesses.

Enter Megs. She got to visit and meet the owner, JOHN KURZ, of one of my favourite record stores- WATERLOO RECORDS.

And now Waterloo Records is 2023 Austin Legacy Business.

So MEGHAN contacted me late last week asking what I wanted for Christmas from Waterloo Records. She wanted to go Saturday to get her Legacy Business Passport stamped while buying me a gift.

I don’t know what she chose because it is not Christmas yet.

It was bizarre though that my 3 daughters all randomly purchased music for me on the same day in 3 different cities in three countries. 🇬🇧 🇨🇦 🇺🇸

Crazy. Cool, but still Crazy!

Now you might think a song by either the BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE or their arch – rivals THE DANDY WARHOLS would be the obvious choice. But that is not the way we roll here.
