I am in the midst of record collecting renaissance. Many of the great LPs released in my 43 years of post- punk affliction are being reissued in special “anniversary” collector vinyl packages.

I am like a deer in the headlights when I learn of such a release.

Monday we featured the 30th anniversary release (in 2013) of “Soul Mining” by THE THE.

Today we feature another 30 year special edition. THE BREEDERS 1993 debut “Last Splash”.

The Set Up

Here is pic of my Last Splash cd on the aces 4AD label.

This outfit was initially comprised of PIXIES legend KIM DEAL (Mrs. John Murphy on that band’s debut), her sister KELLEY and TANYA DONNELLY of THROWING MUSES (and others such as JOSEPHINE WIGGS of PERFECT DISASTER.)

I was having some trouble locating the limited edition of this gem. [Ed. Note- Not only is the LP remastered, there is a second slab of vinyl with extras AND unique packaging.]

I was aware there was just 1 copy available at ROTATE THIS in Toronto.

The Delivery

To the rescue? None other than daughter and Cabbagetown resident Courtney and MOSCOW.

Courts is the Technical Director of gwilliamrexunderground365 when she is not performing municipal consulting work or hanging with her great friends and dog Moscow.

On Saturday, unaware that Hannah had travelled to Manchester, she and Moscow made the trip over to Ossington Avenue to nab it for me!!

I am very excited to be adding this memorable release to my collection.

Moscow got in on the excitement too!

I have previously featured the best song of the album, (and fave of founding Group member Brian), ‘Cannonball’ 555 days ago back at song 104.
