This past Saturday was a landmark day. Or should I say, a record day?
I have 3 remarkable sons and 3 remarkable daughters. The next 3 days are about my daughters.
Longer term Group members know that my favourite music city is Manchester 🇬🇧
Having said that I must confess that despite all my travel to the UK I have only been to the airport there.
You also know that our youngest daughter is attending her 3rd year of University in Southampton. [Ed. Note- Hannah’s second choice of school was in Manchester.]
Anyway, it caught me pleasantly off guard Saturday when Hannah messaged Kimberly and I that she was on the train to Manchester until Monday.
I won’t go through all my musical connections to Manchester other than to remind all that my favourite band is Joy Division and my friend PETER HOOK are Mancunian. That alone has been a recurring theme in my posts and will make a comet like return as soon as next week.

There are so many places I want (and will) go to in Manchester. Hannah did two of them.
The first was to visit the redone wall mural of JOY DIVISION lead singer IAN CURTIS.

She also made a trip to what is probably my favourite record store in the world that I have never yet visited- PICCADILLY RECORDS. [Ed. Note- rex may not have ever been there but he is no stranger to their online staff.]

Here is Hannah on Saturday at the store picking up a record I wanted. The record is “Pearlies.” It is the solo debut by former LUSH guitarist and singer EMMA ANDERSON on the near-perfect SONIC CATHEDRAL LABEL.

Thank you HANNAH! And thank you EMMA for a dynamite LP.
