THEN AND NOW

There is an old saying used to compare Britain and America. It goes like this:

In Britain they say a 100 miles is a long distance but 100 years is not a long time. In America they say 100 years is a long time but 100 miles is not a long distance.

So against that backdrop, and the ever fluid notion of pop music, what is 30 years?

In the early 90’s a band out of Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 created some noise and garnered some attention with a series of well received LPs.

In particular, I note their sophomore release in 1991.

Bandwagonesque (Creation Records 1991)

“Bandwagonesque” is claimed by many to be a superior record to more well known indie classics “Nevermind” (Subpop) by NIRVANA, “Screamadelica” (Creation) from PRIMAL SCREAM and “Loveless” (Creation) by MY BLOODY VALENTINE.

While I personally do not equate Bandwagonesque with those master strokes? I wanted to see if the work of this fine outfit has stood the test of time.
