Meet Palm Ghosts (Joe, Ben and Walt)

Almost 1 year ago an indie band from Nashville, TN 🇺🇸 played here in WÏNDSOR, Ontario. They performed at the fantastic METEOR operated by group member and promoter extraordinaire, Shawn. I was not familiar with this band and, in any event, was unable to attend that gig. However, group member ZIO was there.

He was very impressed.

Next time I saw ZIO, he generously gave me a record (signed) by this outfit “ I played it.

I was very impressed.

Amazingly, they returned to METEOR again last night. I made a point of attending even though it meant gigs two nights in a row, two MLB games earlier in the week and a very busy work week. I was running on fumes. [Ed. Note- rex still thinks it is 1983.]

ZIO and I were rewarded (along with about 25 others) with an amazing performance by PALM GHOSTS! We chatted after and bonded over my telling them them reminding me of Hüsker Du circa the “Candy Apple Grey” period.

As well, I was able to (almost) complete my PALM GHOSTS discography and have the stuff signed.

To say PALM GHOSTS are prolific is to say PALM GHOSTS are prolific. I referenced GUIDED BY VOICES and Joe said people refer to them as the “Guided By Voices of Darkwave.” [Ed. Note GUIDED BY VOICES are the MICHAEL CAINE of Indie music.]

What a great night of music.

Their song ‘She Lies Awake’ from their 2022 LP “occupied the small penthouse at the top of my ever- cluttered brain all week. That song was evicted abruptly when I heard the GERALD JOSEF 🇺🇸 version taken from their recently released remix LP entitled “Deconstructed”.
