Another Sweet Find! aka Mining For Hook(s)

I still remember flipping through a bins of indie records in a New York City store (on a trip there July 19-22 1980 with my pal BMan) and finding this (sans HOOK signature):..

I was newly into indie music and mad for it. As you know my favourite band was Joy Division. My first purchase of their music occurred on the day I saw the NME announcing the death of IAN CURTIS in May. By this time I had their debut LP “Unknown Pleasures”, the 7” “Transmission” and “Love Will Tear Us Apart”. Their 2nd and final studio LP “Closer” was released while I was on this trip but I got mine on the return.”

Anyway “Contradiction” contained two Joy Division songs ‘Autosuggestion’ and ‘From Safety To Where…?’ I had no idea this record and these songs even existed. This record had been released in 1979. Little did I know what the future would hold and my becoming acquainted with bassist PETER HOOK many years later and to this day…”

A few years ago I became acquainted with a wonderful French 🇫🇷 duo called LIMIÑANAS because of their first collaboration with HOOKY on a track entitled ‘Garden Of Love.’ I have been collecting their excellent music since.

Fast forward to recent vinyl mining and the discovery of that song and remixes on vinyl by legendary producer ANDREW WEATHERALL!

ANDREW WEATHERALL (4/6/1963 – 2/12/2020)

[Ed. Note- rex owned these songs digitally but now has the vinyl!]

There are two WEATHERALL remixes One is “lundi” and the other is “mardi.” I know today is Mardi, but I prefer the Lundi version.

You can decide your preference.
