DAF

One of the joys of collecting music is mining for sonic gold. I had 3 such successful instances recently. Here is the story of the first.

DEUTSCHE AMERIKANISCHE FREUNDSCHAFT (German American Friendship) were founded in Düsseldorf 🇩🇪 in 1978. [Ed. Note- this was more than 10 years before the fall of the Berlin Wall.)

Originally comprised of 5 members their most prolific period was as a duo. They were almost always referred to as DAF.

I located their vinyl debut album recently at DEARBORN MUSIC. It was a thrilling moment. The LP is entitled “Ein Product der Deitsch Amerikanischen FREUNDSCHAFT”and was released in 1978.

In many respects it is a rudimentary start. All of the songs are ‘untitled’ and mostly last a minute or so. I only recommend it for aficionados. The band called it the “First Noise Rock Album.”

I am going to share a more well-known DAF song from their 3rd LP entitled “Alles Ist Gut”

The song is ‘Der Mussolini’. [Ed. Note- Not to be confused with ‘Do The Mussolini Headkick’ by CABARET VOLTAIRE.
