Today, another reference to The Barbie Movie.

I will tell you however I damn near fainted when I heard the reference in the script to STEPHEN MALKMUS the lead singer of the Stockton, California 🇺🇸 indie stalwarts PAVEMENT.

YUP. This guy.

It is true. Apparently director GRETA GERWIG is a big indie fan too.

[Ed. Note- rex swears he also heard reference to WIRE (his 2nd favourite band) in the same line of script. Hiwever, it may have been that his synapses were still frying from hearing the MALKMUS reference. The internet is reporting that the reference was actually to LOU REED. A second viewing is now required (and welcomed.) However, if you go, listen for the line (later in the movie) and let me know please.]

Anyway this calls for the 2nd Pavement song on this freight train. [Ed. Note- The song ‘Summer Babe (Winter version) wad posted at song 373 on Jan 7, 2023. If you want that post let rex know.]

In reviewing my PAVEMENT discography I selected the song ‘Cut Your Hair’ from their 3rd LP entitled “Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain” (1994) mainly for the affinity of that video to this movie.
