One of the fantastic added benefits of doing the daily posting is how the group has grown organically and in a musically diverse manner.

Our newest member is Ryan. He joined last week. His musical involvement is with a KIngston area band that plays traditional rock/blues music. He expressed an interest in listening to gwilliamrexunderground365 and joined.

Ryan’s day job involves water and a machine. I promised him a song on our return from the UK. I know the band name will make him chuckle.

The choice was sort of obvious given his work, but not necessarily easy as I perused my collection.

I first thought of a song by San Diego surf punks WAVVES, but they are too punky for Ryan’s expressed musical interests.

Next up was 50 FOOT WAVE fronted by former THROWING MUSES member KRISTEN HERSH. Again, while I like this band, their sound is harder.

There are other “wave” / “water” bands in my collection. [Ed. Note- Ie. respected acts like THE WATERBOYS were

THE WAVE PICTURES were tempting. I own a significant percentage of their discography. Problem is, I don’t love their music enough. It is decent, but a bit too precious.

The final selection is actually the outfit I first thought of when chatting with Ryan.

WAVE MACHINES are from Liverpool 🇬🇧. They had a 7 year life from 2007 to 2014. Their following was of modest proportions. I think the quality of their music exceeds their level of success, although I could probably say about 90% of the outfits in my collection.

In addition, The Open Championship golf tournament finishes today at Royal Liverpool Golf Course (Hoylake) so that bit of serendipity made the choice complete, especially since I played that course in 1994.
