Kimberly and I took a rare “Sunday afternoon” drive Saturday night with DJ Drew in search of ice cream and schadenfreude. We found both.

But enough about that.

On the way back home we took the Drive westward from Tecumseh to downtown Windsor. We were stunned to see the number of people out and about on the riverfront. Street food vendors were busy.

It gave me inspiration for today’s song. Some of the best street food in Wïndsor is served primarily indoors (or on the patio) at The Diotte in Riverside. Wonderful.

Owners H and Yerve are Group members Aside from being great eats and drinks purveyors, I envy them because they made a cool musical trek to NYC to see a rare indie music residency.

Musical Residencies (usually in Vegas) are mostly, I submit) the domain of has-beens trying to capture on the nostalgia and lucre of mostly past glory.

Anyway, not so with LCD SOUNDSYSTEM. Despite announcing a faux-retirement in 2011 in order to sell out Madison Square Garden, JAMES MURPHY revived the band and they remain vital to this day.

They have done a few residency deals in New York, Boston, Philly, SF and London. All of these shows have been in smaller clubs . The band could exceed the total attendance of the residency with one or two arena gigs. But they don’t. I would like to think it is because they respect their supporters…

Anyway. H and Yerve went to see a gig during a residency at Brooklyn Steel! [Ed. Note- Capacity 1800] I am still envious. According to them, the gig was epic and the band bought a drink for all in the house.. nice touch.
