JULY ONE

To do a Canada Day Posting or not?

I debated ignoring that today is the 146th anniversary of Confederation. After all, gwilliamrexunderground365 is supposed to be about the music.

Having said that, I remembered that on this date in 2019, I rode the full extent of The Jubilee Line on the London Underground tweeting out a setlist of songs by Canadian artists. So I thought, why not recognize the day with today’s post?

[Ed. Note- Stanmore – the northern terminus of the Jubilee Line.]

First up, a pic of this guy at our Downtown market today to set the mood, or maybe not.

Went with DJ Drew to the parade. It was riveting.

[Ed. But what about a song rex?]

Okay already.

I debated. And I debated. Finally I settled on this one from Montreal 🇨🇦 indie stalwarts STARS. In the perverse style of what I am trying to achieve here, what could be more timely than this selection given the state of affairs here in Canada? In particular I am and the opening lyric taken from the name of the LP.

Here is ‘Your Ex-Lover is Dead’ from their 2004 album “Set Yourself On Fire.”

He is the father of TORQUIL CAMPBELL, the male lead singer of the band.]
